MOUNTAINS MINDFULNESS
BLUE MOUNTAINS MINDFULNESS TRAINING
MBSR Mindfulness based Stress Reduction, or MBSR, is the gold-standard of all mindfulness courses. MBSR is an eight-week course consisting of weekly 2.5-hour classes and a one-day guided silent retreat. Best outcomes can be expected when participants undertake the recommended home practice of 45 minutes, six days per week for the duration of the course. MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 to complement services to patients at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. It quickly proved to show benefits not only in reducing stress but also improved mental function and reduced levels of anxiety, depression and chronic pain. Last year ABC Catalyst aired a program presenting research on the MBSR course. You can watch it online here |
MBCT The Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy course (MBCT) incorporates MBSR and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. It is designed to teach mindfulness skills to use to prevent a relapse in depression in people with recurrent depression. Its' application has been broadened to deal with a wide range of mental health issues. MBCT is an eight-week course consisting of weekly 2-hour classes and a one-day guided silent retreat, with daily meditation practices. |
WORKPLACE We can tailor mindfulness courses to the specific needs of your workplace or organization. Particular issues can be highlighted and worked with, and time and financial constraints can be accommodated in order to provide maximum possible benefits appropriate to your situation. Both the MBSR ad MBCT courses are being adapted for workplace stress, team building and training for staff across a broad spectrum of organizations. Mindfulness training is now included in Cognitive Behavioural Treatments provided by Psychologists, Social Workers and other helping professionals, so by providing this in workplace training you will also be delivering invaluable support to individual staff. |
